New mural on North Street
Located on North Street on the Tobacco Factory wall facing Aldi, the mural features scenes of Bristol and people holding fruit and vegetables, with the words ‘Planet Local’.
Planet Local has been created by Bristol street art heavyweights, Silent Hobo and Inkie, to promote the Planet Local Summit, which takes place in Bristol at the end of September.
The huge piece of work was commissioned by Tobacco Factory owner and former Bristol mayor George Ferguson, and has been backed by Bedminster BID and Local Futures.
Inkie and Silent Hobo were making final touches to the piece, which is the first commissioned piece they have worked on together.
Inkie is best known for his distinctive typefaces, which can be spotted everywhere from Cotham Hill to St Paul’s.
Silent Hobo has made a name for himself in more recent months with colourful cartoon-like images of people that have become synonymous with Bristol’s culture.
The Planet Local mural replaced Devon artist Sophie Mess’ Wonder, which was painted as part of the previous year’s Upfest, and will remain until next year’s festival.
